Department of Psychiatry announces new Director of Medical Education Administration

January 22, 2015

Yale Department of Psychiatry is pleased to announce that Vonda Armstrong will serve as its new Director of Medical Education Administration. In this role she will oversee the administration of the department's medical education programs with special responsibility for the psychiatry residency. The appointment is effective January 19, 2015.

Armstrong joined the department in 2013 as its Human Resources Generalist. She has been a member of the human resources team at a number of healthcare and public sector organizations, including Duke University Hospital where she served as a Senior Employee Relations Representative.

Armstrong earned a bachelor's degree in communications and a master's degree in business management and human resources from Notre Dame of Maryland University in Baltimore. She is a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) by the Human Resource Certification Institute.

“Vonda’s background in human resources will be invaluable as she helps us develop the careers of our residents and manage the Office of Education,” said Robert Rohrbaugh, MD, professor of psychiatry, deputy chair for education and career development in psychiatry, and program director for the psychiatry residency program.

In announcing the appointment, Rohrbaugh thanked Jennifer Dolan-Auten for providing a seamless transition during the director search and interview process. Dolan-Auten was recently promoted to Associate Director for Medical Education Administration and will work closely with Armstrong on all aspects of the department’s medical education programs.
