Trial Purpose
This study is looking to determine if depressed nonsmokers and smokers have abnormal regional expression of neuronal β2-containing nicotinic acetylcholine receptor compared to euthymic control patients
Participation Guidelines
- Age:
- 18 Years - 65 Years
- Gender:
- Both
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria:
- Diagnosis of bipolar disorder
- No medications
Exclusion Criteria:
- Substance abuse (except caffeine) within the preceding 12 months
- Pregnancy/nursing
- Any MRI contraindications
- Prior radiation exposure within the past year such that participation in this study would place them over FDA limits for annual radiation exposure
