Biography

Connie M. Nickou, Psy.D. is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with more than twenty years of experience in working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of clinical settings.She graduated from Wesleyan University and completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Hartford. In the past, Dr. Nickou conducted research at Yale in the areas of serious and persistent mental illness and substance abuse. Currently, Dr. Nickou is in private practice on the shoreline and provides individual psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and adults.She has been trained in and uses a number of treatment modalities, among them Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Psychodynamic Therapy.She also runs a weekly Social Skills group for girls.Particular areas of interest and expertise for Dr. Nickou include difficulties with mood and anxiety disorders, behavioral problems, autism spectrum disorders, social and interpersonal challenges, and problems with substance abuse.
