Four Yale residents selected as geriatric psychiatry scholars

April 01, 2015

Four Yale psychiatry residents have been selected to receive prestigious scholarships from the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry (AAGP) and the Geriatric Mental Health Foundation (GMHF).

These Scholars are Katrina Furey, MD; Marilise Hyacinth, MD, PhD; Adam Mecca, MD, PhD; and Stephanie Yarnell, MD, PhD.

As recipients of GMHF Honors Scholarships, these residents attended the Scholars Program held during the annual meeting of AAGP in New Orleans in March 2015, and will be assigned a mentor with whom they will collaborate on a geropsychiatry-related academic project over the next year.

The Geriatric Mental Health Foundation’s Scholars Fund was developed to expose medical students and young physicians to the field of geriatric psychiatry in an effort to increase the number of medical professionals expertly trained to care for the growing older population.
