M&M for Psychiatrists? Residents launch Mental Health System Improvement Series (MHSIS)

August 20, 2014

Two Yale psychiatry residents, Tobias Wasser, MD, and Beth Grunschel, MD, ScM, have co-authored an article discussing their resident-led quality improvement project at the West Haven campus of the VA Connecticut Healthcare System.

They outline lessons learned from implementation of the innovative Mental Health System Improvement Series (MHSIS), which utilized a morbidity and mortality (M&M) conference style model.

The article appears online at PsychiatricTimes.com:

Both authors completed their psychiatry residency in 2014. Wasser is now a fellow in the forensic psychiatry program at Yale, while Grunschel is currently a fellow in Yale's addiction psychiatry program.

Faculty and residents who are interested in MHSIS can contact Amy Stevens, MD (amy.stevens@yale.edu). Stevens, a fourth-year psychiatry resident, will coordinate future MHSIS sessions.
