Yale's Delphin-Rittmon appointed senior policy advisor in the DMHAS Office of the Commissioner and co-director of state's Office of Multicultural Healthcare Equality

The Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) has announced that Miriam Delphin-Rittmon, Ph.D. has been appointed senior policy advisor in the Office of the Commissioner and co-director of the Office of Multicultural Healthcare Equality.

The goal of the Office of Multicultural Healthcare Equality is to assure that cultural competence is an integral component of all services that DMHAS provides.

Delphin-Rittmon is an assistant professor of psychiatry in the department's Psychology Section. She is the director of health equity and multicultural research and consultation at the Yale Program for Recovery and Community Health (PRCH), which is affiliated with the Connecticut Mental Health Center.

Most recently, Delphin-Rittmon served as senior advisor to the administrator in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Office of Policy, Planning, and Innovation.

Her professional and research interests include system-level strategic planning and policy development geared towards eliminating health disparities and promoting recovery oriented care; and individual, organizational, and system level cultural competence including training, program design and evaluation.
