The Yale School of Public Health Class of 2014 selected Marney White, PhD, MS as Teacher of the Year. White is an associate professor of psychiatry and of public health and an associate research scientist in psychology. She is the associate director of the Yale Center for Anxiety and Mood Disorders.

From the Yale School of Public Health Insider:

Marney White has been lauded for her energy, passion for teaching, ability to engage her students and for her respect and commitment to not only their education but their futures as skilled public health leaders. “Her expectations of us are high, but it is because she truly believes that we have the power to change the world,” said a student.

The graduating class selected Marney for this award in recognition of her exceptional teaching in two courses: Social and Behavioral Foundations of Health and Questionnaire Development. Her classes, described as interactive, fun, and riddled with story-telling, provided students the opportunity to successfully apply the knowledge they learned to address public health challenges. “Getting an entire class excited about analyzing data speaks to how contagious her passion is,” said one student.

Marney was also consistently praised for her mentoring efforts through her genuine concern for students' development and her willingness to offer her time and guidance on theses and careers.

White, a clinical psychologist, specializes in eating and weight disorders with particular emphasis on the interaction of tobacco use with eating disorders and weight concerns.
