Integrated Training Program

Residency applicants interested child and adolescent psychiatry may apply for the Albert J. Solnit Integrated Training Program, a joint venture between the Yale Department of Psychiatry and the Yale Child Study Center.

We continue to maintain a long tradition of strong clinical and research programs in the biological, psychological, and social determinants of mental health. Each of these models is represented in the core didactic curriculum to enable you to have the knowledge necessary to provide your patients with the best treatment available. This exposure will also help you determine which aspects of these models you want to incorporate in your own career. For example, PGY-II coursework includes:

  • Neuroscience and Somatic Treatments ("Brain Camp")
  • Theories of the Mind and Psychological Treatments ("Mind Camp")
  • Social Determinants of Mental Health and Rehabilitative Treatments
  • Becoming a Yale Psychiatrist
  • Psychopharmacology
  • Multiperspective Clinical Care Conferences

We also strive to provide balance in your training by giving you the opportunity to direct aspects of your own education. After all, who knows better than you about what direction you’d like your career to take?

See how the different parts of our residency program give you the knowledge and skills to be an outstanding psychiatrist:
