A Day in the Life of a Yale Psychiatry Resident
Ever wonder what it would be like to train at Yale? Get to know a typical day in life of a Yale resident through our residents' own words.
A Day in the Life of a PGY 1 Resident

Hi there, I’m Nabyl Tejani, first-year psychiatry resident at Yale. I graduated from the University of California at San Diego School of Medicine, but grew up primarily on the East Coast after moving to the States at the age of four. I’m actually returning to the Yale Campus twelve years after finishing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, and am happy to see the city so much more vibrant than when I left it.
A Day in the Life of a PGY 2 Resident

Hi, my name is Eric Arzubi and I'm a second year psychiatry resident at the Yale School of Medicine. After graduating from Yale Med in 2008, I decided to stay in the New Haven area with my wife and twin 4 year-old girls. The community of medical trainees and professionals is very close-knit and friendly. Even though this is "Yale", my colleagues and I continue to be astounded at the warmth and openness of senior faculty and at their willingness to engage residents on many professional and personal levels.
A Day in the Life of a PGY 3 Resident

Hi! My name is Carla Marienfeld, and I am a PGY3 resident, originally from Texas. As a PGY3, I work outpatient all this year, with a few overnight shifts in the psych ER thrown in to keep things interesting! I wake up around 7:30 and walk from my beautiful downtown New Haven (a really great little area with lots of wonderful restaurants and local businesses) apartment the 4-5 blocks over to the CT Mental Health Center.
A Day in the Life of a PGY 4 Resident

Hi, my name is Bryan Shelby, one of the fourth-year residents. Prior to specializing in forensic psychiatry, I wanted to have a broad exposure to different patients prior to fellowship. One of the best things about the fourth-year is there are no required rotations. Therefore, we can tailor the fourth-year to our own interests. This allows an excellent opportunity to incorporate a variety of clinical and/or research experiences. In my fourth year at Yale, I am participating in several different treatment sites with different patient groups.
